“Australiana”, a cleverly crafted spoken word piece filled with colloquial Australian language and puns, was an ARIA #1 Single in 1983 for eight weeks.

Known for his razor-sharp wit, unmistakable Aussie charm and a trailblazer in the Australian comedy landscape, Austen Tayshus is offensive, insulting and provocative while being totally entertaining.

His ability to combine wit, satire, and cultural references never fails to captivate audiences and solidify his status as a comedy icon.

AUSTEN TAYSHUS – AUSTRALIAN COMEDY LEGEND

Austen Tayshus (a popular comedy personality portrayed by Alexander Jacob “Sandy” Gutman”) is an Australian comedy legend having performed over 10,000 shows in nightclubs, universities, comedy clubs, pubs and theatres throughout Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA, Fiji and Bali.

In addition to earning much deserved acclaim for his delivery of the Billy Burmingham written “Australiana”, Austen has also had success in other areas of the entertainment industry, including writing, directing and starring in a number of films.

He wrote and starred in the film “INTOLERANCE” which received the Best Film Award at the 1998 Tropicana Film Festival and for which he won the Best Actor Award.

Austen Tayshus is a graduate of the Film and Television School, (1978) and also wrote and directed the following films, “Eric and Alice” (1975), “Waves” (1976) and “The End” (1977).
